An Instagram story downloader, before the 24 hours run out.

Stories and highlights, saved to a folder on your own computer as ordinary photos and videos. It runs through your own signed-in session, so it reaches what you can already see — and nothing you download is routed through anybody else's server.

The thing every other page on this topic won't tell you

Downloading a story is not anonymous, and it cannot be. Instagram serves stories only to a signed-in session, and it records the view against whoever that session belongs to. If you open someone's story through this app, you land in their viewer list exactly as if you had tapped it on your phone.

The sites advertising "anonymous story viewer" get around that in one of two ways, and neither is what the headline suggests: they fetch the story with someone else's account (often a farmed one, sometimes yours if you handed over a login), or they simply don't. Handing your Instagram credentials to a web page to stay invisible to one person is a bad trade in every direction.

So this page makes the boring claim instead: it downloads what you can already see, as yourself, and puts the file on your disk. If being unseen is the requirement, no honest tool solves it.

How to save a story or a highlight

  1. Step 01

    Connect Instagram once

Settings → Accounts → Instagram, in a normal login window. Stories don't load for a signed-out request at all, which is why this step comes first here rather than being optional.

  2. Step 02

    Paste the link

A story link, a highlight link, or the profile itself. The app works out which it got and queues every item behind it.

  3. Step 03

    Check the folder

Each frame arrives as its own .jpg or .mp4, named with the account and the date, in the destination you chose.

Stories, highlights, and what expires

  • A live storyUp for 24 hours. Once Instagram expires it there is nothing left to fetch — no tool can retrieve it, because the file is gone from the source.
  • A highlightA permanent collection of past stories. It doesn't expire, so it can be downloaded whenever, in full.
  • Your own old storiesOften still in your Instagram archive. Request your data from Instagram, or see getting your own photos back.
  • Someone else's expired storyGone. If a page offers to recover one, it is either showing you a highlight or selling you something that doesn't exist.

Story downloader FAQ

Can I download stories anonymously?

No. The app uses your own signed-in session — the only way Instagram serves stories — so you appear in the viewer list. Anything promising otherwise is fetching through another account or not telling the truth.

Can I download a story after 24 hours?

Not the story itself; Instagram has deleted it. If the person moved it to a highlight, the highlight is still there and downloads normally.

Does it download highlights?

Yes — paste the highlight link and every item in it is saved as its own file.

Do stories keep their quality?

You get Instagram's file, saved without re-encoding. Instagram compresses stories fairly hard on upload, so that's the ceiling — but nothing here adds a second round on top.

Do I have to log in?

Yes, once, in a normal login window. The session stays on your computer, and there's no account to create with us.

What am I allowed to download?

Content you have the right to keep — your own stories, accounts you manage, or material you have permission to save. You're responsible for Instagram's terms and applicable copyright law. See our Terms of Use.
