A social media downloader that never asks you to open a terminal.
Connect an account once, paste a link, and the file lands in a folder you picked — named, sorted, and sitting on your own disk. No command line, no upload, no account with us.
No card, no account, no bundled extras. Try it on your own link first.

- Nothing leaves your machineNo server of ours ever sees a link or a file.
- No account, no telemetryNothing to sign up for, nothing phoning home.
- Engines includedNo Python, no ffmpeg, no cookies.txt to maintain.
- Pay once or not at allFree tier forever; $29 lifetime if you want more.
Three steps. That is the entire workflow.
-
STEP 01
Connect the account
Log in through a guided window, once per service. Each service gets its own isolated session — you never handle a cookies file or a browser extension.
-
STEP 02
Paste a link
A post, a reel, a video. The app reads the URL and routes it to the right download engine on its own. There is no engine picker, because you should not have to know.
-
STEP 03
Find the file in your folder
It saves to the destination you set, filed by uploader and title. Up to three downloads run at once, and cancelling one actually stops the process behind it.
The parts a command-line tool makes tedious
Logging in, without the cookies dance
Connect each service through its own guided login. The app keeps the sessions isolated from each other and from your browser, and refreshes them when they go stale.
Sessions are stored locally, on your machine only.
A queue that actually stops when you stop it
Three downloads run in parallel. Cancel one and the underlying process is killed — no orphaned job left writing half a file to disk while the UI says it stopped.
Progress is read from the engine, not estimated.
Your folder, your naming
Pick a destination once. Everything after that lands there, organised by uploader and title, ready to hand to Time Machine, an external drive, or whatever you already back up with.
Plain files in a plain folder — no library, no database.
What it doesn't do
This category earned its reputation honestly. Here is the short list of things you will not find in the installer or the app.
- Ads, pop-ups, or a second "Download" button that isn't the download button
- Bundled toolbars, extensions, or anything installed alongside it
- Analytics, crash telemetry, or a check-in call to a server of ours
- An account, an email gate, or a password to reset
- Uploading your media anywhere to process it
- A subscription that renews after the first month
That list is the design, not a roadmap.

YouTube is listed as unsupported because it is. If your links are mostly YouTube, this is not the tool for you today.

Questions people actually ask
Is this a subscription?
No. $29 once, and the license is yours for good — including future updates.
Which sites does it support?
Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, Vimeo, Twitch, and more — Social Media Downloader picks the right download engine automatically based on the link you paste. YouTube isn't supported yet.
Do I need to install Python, ffmpeg, or anything else?
No. The download engines ship inside the app. You install one file and open it — there is nothing else to set up and nothing to keep updated by hand.
Is my data private?
Yes. Social Media Downloader runs entirely on your machine. There's no account, no telemetry, and no server of ours in the loop — your login sessions and downloaded files never leave your computer.
What am I allowed to download?
Social Media Downloader is built for backing up content you have the right to save — your own posts, accounts you manage, or material you have permission to keep a copy of. You're responsible for following the terms of the platforms you connect and applicable copyright law. See our Terms of Use.
What are the system requirements?
macOS 10.15 Catalina or newer, or Windows 10 or newer on 64-bit or ARM. Around 400 MB of disk space for the app, plus room for whatever you download.
Refunds?
Email the address in the footer within 14 days of purchase if Social Media Downloader isn't working for you.
Accounts get locked. Posts get taken down.
The copy on your own disk is the only one nobody else can revoke. Start with the free tier — it takes one link to find out whether this works for you.
14-day refund on the paid license. No card needed for the free tier.
